Logo and Identity Design

  • Aces of Acts Entertainment
  • What they wanted: Aces of Acts is a cirque style entertainment company based in Las Vegas. They specialize in providing unique acts for exclusive special events and corporate entertainment. They were looking for a unique logo design that uses symbol and type which conveys movement, beauty, and fun
  • What I did: I began the process by meeting with the owner of the company. During this meeting, I provided a questionaire in order to prompt ideas about the style and direction he wanted to take the logo in. I also gathered a great deal of information about the company from which to draw more ideas. Within an agreed upon amount of time, I sent a variety of sketches and ideas from which he chose a design that he liked. I created several versions of this logo showing different colors and placement of text. I also created different mock-ups of the logo displayed on apparel such as hats and t-shirts.

  • AB Interior Design
  • What they wanted: AB is the initials of an interior designer who at the time of the logo's creation was soon to graduate from AILV and was preparing for her portfolio show. She needed a custom logo to use for business cards and signage that in some way incorporated her initials.
  • What I did: After meeting with her and looking through her portfolio, I created a design that resembles Celtic patterns, a favorite design aesthetic used in the client's work.

  • Downtown Las Vegas magazine
  • What they wanted: The Las Vegas Review-Journal decided to develop a new magazine that would feature articles and advertisements centered around the downtown area of the city of Las Vegas. They looked to me and other designers to develop ideas for a masthead logo to be used on the cover. They wanted the logo to display a hint of classic Las Vegas design, but also to be contemporary in order to speak to the future of the area and also to appeal more to a younger audience.
  • What I did: After a great deal of research about the city and classic design aesthetic of downtown Las Vegas (Fremont Street, Golden Nugget, Four Queens, etc...), I created a type treatment which I felt was similar to that style yet still modern. I then replaced the "W" with a symbol for beams of light representing the light shining from the city. After the logo's creation, I also created a mockup of the magazine in order to demonstrate how the logo could be used throughout.

  • PAAW Prints
  • What they wanted: PAAW Prints was a non-profit group who raised money for local animal shelters through the sale of original t-shirts created by artists at The Art Institute of Las Vegas. They needed a logo and identity package for use on a web site, emails and stationary.
  • What I did: I combined the symbol of a paw (derived from the play on word that the company used for their name) with the universal symbol of the heart to show the caring and giving nature of the group. The logo was well received by the group as an effective symbol for what they stood for.

  • Acupella
  • What they wanted: Acupella is a logo concept I developed at the Art Institute of Las Vegas. The goal of the project was to develop an entire brand identity as well as develop a 3-D rendering of the interior of a restaurant.
  • What I did: The concept for the restaurant was a coffee shop that played live music. The logo effectively combines the color and symbol for a coffee cup with the symbol of a musical cleft note.

  • Ryoushi Japanese Restaurant
  • What they wanted: Ryoushi Japanese Restaurant is a logo concept I developed at the Art Institute of Las Vegas. The goal of the project was to develop a restaurant name and logo.
  • What I did: Ryoushi means "fisherman". Having always been a fan of the traditional Japanese artform, I created a logo that used used common Japanese symbolism with the sumi-e brush painting style. The fisherman is shown interacting with the name in the logo as he has caught the dot in the "i" with his fishing pole.
