  • Las Vegas New Homes Guide
  • What they wanted: The Las Vegas New Homes Guide is a publication of Stephens Media that has articles and listings of Southern Nevada real estate. The previous website was outdated and very difficult to use. They were looking for a website that had better design and functionality, real estate search, advertising space, an e-edition, and an archive feature.
  • What I did: I redesigned the site from scratch, incorporating Wordpress as a content management system so the designers of the magazine could easily update articles and images. I incorporated Adicio real estate search, the LVRJ/realestate news feed, a mortgage calculator, and a Flash flipbook presentation for the magazine.

  • Las Vegas Health Magazine
  • What they wanted: The Las Vegas Review-Journal publishes a monthly magazine called Las Vegas Health which $quot;enables consumers to make informed health care decisions by providing information about health, wellness, prevention and local treatment options.". They needed an online magazine-style blog to complement the publication and provide viewers with extra content and also the opportunity to discuss topics.
  • What I did: I designed and created a Wordpress magazine-style blog which can be easily maintained by the editors of the magazine. I also installed and modified several plugins to extend the capabilities of Wordpress in order to provide as complete a CMS as was necessary for the editors to include every part of the magazine and more. Development will continue on the site as we plan to provide more services and content.

Frys Online Campaign
  • Fry's Online Campaign
  • What they wanted: Frys is a major electronics store that the LVRJ had goals to help develop a major online advertising presence for. Several different forms of advertising were proposed including LVRJ.com and Yahoo targeted banner advertisements, eBlasts, cell phone texting promotions and online contests. For this proposal, samples needed to be created of all the possible forms of advertising that were to be proposed.
  • What I did: I participated as a team of 3 designers who created these samples and formed them into a presentation. Shown is the starting page for a presentation that I created that had statistics for and samples of the various forms of advertisement that were proposed. I built the presentation in HTML and used Javascript for a sliding animation between each frame. The menu to the left changes the main slides and the navigation at the top slides down further information from the top of the browser window

  • Liquor Outlet eBlast
  • What they wanted: The Liquor Outlet needed an eBlast to send to their registered list of customers to promote a big promotion they were doing for Jack Daniel's birthday.
  • What I did: I created an HTML document which would maintain design consistency throughout all major email programs. The process for this is different in several ways from creating an HTML document for use with internet browsers and is a specialty that I have learned through the creation of several eBlasts.

  • LVRJ Interactive ZIP Code Map
  • What they wanted: Sales representatives for the Las Vegas Review-Journal needed an easy solution to quickly and efficiently determine newspaper circulation amounts by product. This would be used to give information to customers about how many people subscribe to LVRJ products in each ZIP code throughout the valley. Instead of purchasing software that cost several thousand dollars and contained unecessary features that would not be used, they decided to look in-house to have an application developed to suit their needs.
  • What I did: I teamed with another Flash developer to create an easy and effective mapping application that, with a click of a button would add circulation numbers by ZIP code which could then be printed and sent to customers. The map is easily updated from an xml file which is converted from Excel spreadsheets sent to us monthly by the advertising sales department.
  • Software/Demonstrated Skills: Flash, Actionscript 3, XML
